We are family run business, formed by Paul Illes and Katharine Ayris, to provide Residential Property, Conveyancing and Private Client services as consultant solicitors with Taylor Rose MW.
We are solicitors with a passion for law and for providing the best service for our clients.
KPI Law provides legal services on a consultancy basis via Taylor Rose MW, a top 60 law firm. This combination allows us to offer the best of both worlds; a friendly, accessible, local, personal service coupled with the security and infrastructure of a national law firm.

Paul Illes
Property Solicitor / Co-founder of KPI Law Limited
Paul qualified as a Solicitor in 2007 and since then has accrued a wealth of experience in all aspects of Residential Property law.
Before creating his own family run business, he was a partner in the large Newcastle firm of Hay & Kilner LLP where he was Head of the Residential Property Unit for many years.
Paul lives in the North East and as such he can provide local property knowledge. Paul prides himself on providing a swift, proactive, personalised service to his clients. He acknowledges that he often acts at one of the most stressful time of their lives and strives to meet the requirements of his clients.
Paul’s calm and collected approach to any transaction coupled with a simple philosophy of “one goal” has led to many repeat clients and a strong following both in the North East and nationally.
Paul provides a complete legal service to property owners on matters such as:
- Conveyancing- buying and selling freehold and leasehold property
- New build purchases
- Re-mortgages
- Transfers of equity
- Unregistered land
- Declarations of trust
- Lease extensions (for landlords and tenants)
- Site set up and plot sales for developers
As a Consultant for Taylor Rose MW he is authorised to act for all Lenders.
Katharine Ayris
Private Client and Property Solicitor / Co-founder of KPI Law Limited
Katharine is a Solicitor who specialises in Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Trusts and Estate planning along with Inheritance Tax planning and the administration of estates. She also deals with property transactions.
Katharine has always been passionate about law and studied at the University of Hull, graduating in the class of 2000 with a First Class Degree. Since then she has worked at some of the top rated firms in the North East of England including those rated in the 1st Tier for Private Client Services by the Legal 500.
Katharine takes the time to get to know her clients and helps guide them through the legalities with sensitivity and compassion in plain English.
She is always happy to assist. Client feedback consistently says she is professional, helpful, approachable and friendly.
